On September 20, a fierce encounter took place between security forces and Naxalites in Dantewada, a Naxal-affected district of Chhattisgarh. Several rounds of firing took place during the encounter. In the end, the security forces achieved great success and two women Naxalites were killed. When the investigation of the material recovered from the women Naxalites started, many types of weapons were found with them. Amidst all this, an INSAS rifle was found, the details of which were already with the security forces. When further investigation was done, the entire history could be known. Actually, the female Naxalite who died in the encounter had an INSAS rifle looted from a CRPF jawan. Not only this, the rifle was looted about 15 years ago.

According to the information, in the year 2008, a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) soldier was attacked by Naxalites in Katekalyan market of Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh. During that time the Naxalites had fled with the soldier’s weapons. CRPF had made an entry in its database regarding the looted weapons. After which the weapon recovered from the female Naxalite in the encounter was examined and this could be known.

Bastar Range IG Sundarraj P said today that on September 20, two female Naxalites were killed in a police-Naxal encounter in Nagaram forest near the border of Dantewada and Sukma districts. One INSAS and one twelve bore rifle have been recovered from them. When the police got the weapons tested, the recovered Insas rifle was found to have been looted from a CRPF jawan doing duty in the Katekalyan weekly market 15 years ago. He said that this year many weapons have been recovered from the Naxalites, including some weapons looted by the police. However, till now no such old looted weapon has been found.

It is believed that Naxalites do not use one weapon for a long time. Change it in 1 or 2 years. In such a situation, finding this rifle is very surprising.
