Guyana Amazon Warriors (GAW) captain Imran Tahir faced the on-field umpire with the first ball of his spell during the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2023) Qualifier 1 against Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR). Created a hindrance, after which the umpire made the famous John Cena signal ‘You can’t see me’, seeing which even Imran Tahir was surprised.

This is the whole matter

Actually, Tahir came on the attack in the fifth over of TKR’s innings. Mark Dayal tried to play a slog sweep on the very first ball. However, the ball hit the pad directly. Interestingly, there was a huge appeal from the experienced spinner, but the on-field umpire was not able to take the decision. According to him, Tahir came forward after throwing the ball and obstructed the vision. Due to which he could not see. The GAW captain immediately opted for DRS and eventually managed to swing the result in his favor with ball-tracking showing three reds.

In this important match, TKR won the toss and decided to field first. For GAW, Saim Ayub and Azam Khan top-scored with the bat, scoring 49 and 36 respectively. Guyana finished at 166/7 in 20 overs. Terence Hinds and Waqar Salamkhil bowled brilliantly and took two wickets each.

Knight Riders chased the target easily in 18.1 overs and won by seven wickets. Opener Chadwick Walton remained unbeaten on 80 runs and led his team to a comprehensive victory. Thus TKR became the first team to qualify for the semi-finals of CPL.
