    Hyderabad. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday offered prayers at Veerbhadra Temple in Lepakshi, Andhra Pradesh. During this time he also listened to the verses of Ranganatha Ramayana written in Telugu. The architecture of the Vijayanagara period can be seen in the Veerbhadra Temple, built in the 16th century.     Lepakshi has a special place in Ramayana. It is said that Lepakshi is the place where Jatayu fell after getting seriously injured while stopping Ravana who was going by plane after kidnapping Mother Sita. While dying, Jatayu told Lord Rama that Ravana had taken Mother Sita towards the south. After this Lord Ram gave him salvation.

    Prime Minister Modi has reached Veerbhadra Temple six days before the consecration of Ramlala of Ayodhya. The Prime Minister is performing a special ritual of 11 days, hence his Lepakshi Yatra is taking place after visiting Shri Kala Ram Temple in Nashik. A few days ago, PM Modi had reached Panchvati situated on the banks of Godavari river in Nashik. He offered prayers at the Kala Ram temple and listened to verses in Marathi from Ramayana related to Lord Ram’s arrival in Ayodhya.

    PM Modi’s Andhra Pradesh tour has started with the visit to Veerbhadra Temple. PM Modi will visit Palasamudram in Sri Sathyasai district in Andhra Pradesh today. Apart from this, he will inaugurate the new campus of the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN). Will leave for Delhi in the evening.
