National Conference President Farooq Abdullah said in an interview to a magazine that his party will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on its own merit without forming an alliance with other political parties. Along with this, he did not rule out the possibility of returning to NDA. Let us tell you that during the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government, National Conference was a part of NDA.

Farooq Abdullah said that seat sharing talks with the constituents of the Bharat alliance have failed. In fact, cracks between India Bloc and National Conference have started appearing since last month. In January, the former CM had said that if the seat-sharing formula was not decided soon, some opposition parties could form a separate alliance. Last month, several top leaders of the National Conference in Jammu region had joined the BJP.

INDIA Alliance, a coalition of 25 parties, is facing difficulty in reaching a consensus on seat sharing with its regional allies. The latest blow to INDIA Alliance has come from AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal’s announcement that it will contest elections on all 14 Lok Sabha seats of Punjab and Chandigarh. In Delhi, the party has offered only one out of seven Lok Sabha seats to Congress.

Arvind Kejriwal made this announcement at a time when it comes weeks after TMC supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that she will contest the Lok Sabha elections alone and rejected all her seat-sharing proposals. Congress was held responsible for this.
