    The Central Government has announced to give Bharat Ratna to former Chief Minister of Bihar Karpoori Thakur. Before the 100th birth anniversary of Karpoori Thakur on Wednesday, it has been announced that he will be honored with Bharat Ratna posthumously.

    Let us tell you that JDU had demanded to give Bharat Ratna to Karpoori Thakur. After this announcement, JDU has expressed gratitude to the Modi government. After 2019, now it has been announced to give Bharat Ratna after 5 years in 2024.

    Has been Chief Minister of Bihar twice

    Karpoori Thakur is an Indian freedom fighter, teacher, politician and has been the second Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar state and twice Chief Minister. Due to his popularity he was called a public hero. Karpoori Thakur was born in Pitaunjhiya, a village in Samastipur, which is now called Karpoorigram, during the British rule in India. He spent 26 months in jail during the Quit India Movement. He served as the Chief Minister of Bihar twice, from 22 December 1970 to 2 June 1971 and from 24 June 1977 to 21 April 1979.
