Sports Desk. The Indian team has recently returned home after completing the India tour of South Africa. The Indian team, captained by Rohit Sharma, managed to draw the two-match Test series 1-1 against South Africa (IND vs SA) at their home. After losing the first match of the series by an innings and 32 runs, the Indian team made a strong comeback and defeated the host team by seven wickets in just two days in Cape Town. Now the International Cricket Council (ICC), the supreme body of cricket, has described the pitch at Newlands as ‘unsatisfactory’.

Let us tell you that ICC match referee Chris Broad has released his report regarding the Newlands pitch. After evaluation, the Newlands pitch has been considered ‘unsatisfactory’. Chris said that it was very difficult to bat on the Newlands pitch. Throughout the match the ball bounced quickly and sometimes dangerously, making shots difficult. Along with this, Newlands pitch was also given one demerit point. It should be noted that one demerit point is given if the pitch and outfield are found unsatisfactory by the match referee.

A total of 23 wickets fell on the first day during the Cape Town Test. A total of 75.1 overs were played on the first day, in which both the teams scored a total of 270 runs while 23 wickets were taken out. With this, a record was created for the second highest number of wickets falling on the opening day of the match in Test history. Earlier, in the Melbourne Test played between Australia and England (AUS vs ENG) in 1902, 25 wickets had fallen on the first day. This record, which is more than 100 years old, still remains intact. On the second day of the Cape Town Test, a total of 10 wickets fell for both the teams but in the end India achieved the target by scoring 80 runs for three wickets.

Rohit had said about the pitch, we all saw what happened in this Test match and how the pitch was. I have no objection to playing on such pitches, but then there should not be so much fuss about Indian pitches. During this, Rohit Sharma had also accused ICC and match referee of adopting double standards. He had said, how do the match referee and ICC look at these ratings. I have no problem with how you give ratings, but you should remain neutral.
