IND vs AFG: India has started the three-match T20 International series against Afghanistan (IND vs AFG) with a bang. In the first T20 match played in Mohali (IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali), India won by six wickets thanks to Shivam Dubey’s unbeaten inning of 60 runs. The second match of the series will be played on 14 January in Indore (Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore). Former Indian captain and star batsman Virat Kohli, who was unavailable for the first match due to personal reasons, will be available for the second match. Kohli will return to the Indian T20 team after 14 months.

Let us tell you that Kohli had made himself unavailable for the first match played in Mohali. The reason behind this is being said to be his daughter Vamika’s birthday. But, after hearing the news of Kohli’s availability for the second match, Indian cricket fans and fans of the star batsman are celebrating. With Kohli’s inclusion in the playing eleven, captain Kohli Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid will have to make changes in the team for the second match. Kohli played his last T20 International match against England (IND vs ENG) in the semi-finals of the 2022 T20 World Cup (ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022).

This three-match series against Afghanistan is India’s last chance to prepare for the T20 World Cup (ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024) to be held in June. After this series, Indian players will engage in the five-match Test series against England starting from January 25. Then the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) will be organized. Kohli would like to justify his return to the team by scoring big with a good strike rate in the last two matches against Afghanistan. This 35-year-old player has played 115 T20 international matches for India so far. Right-handed batsman Kohli has scored 4008 runs during this period at an average of 52.7 and strike rate of 138. This includes one century and 37 half-centuries.
