Dinesh Karthik Retirement: India’s wicketkeeper batsman Dinesh Karthik has officially announced his retirement from all formats of cricket on his birthday on June 1. Karthik has informed about his decision through a post on the social media platform Instagram.

Let us tell you that before the start of IPL 2024, he had said in one of his statements that this could be his last season. Meanwhile, Team India’s squad for the T20 World Cup was announced but he did not get a place in it. Since then there was speculation about his retirement, which Karthik himself has now confirmed with his post.

Dinesh Karthik wrote in his post on social media that I consider myself very lucky with the love I have received from all of you in the last few days. I want to thank all the fans for this. After a lot of thinking, now I am deciding to retire from all formats of cricket and want to move forward in other things in life. On this occasion, I want to thank all my coaches, captains, fellow players, selectors and support staff. A lot of people play cricket in our country, so I consider myself lucky that I got a chance to play for the Indian team.

Apart from announcing his retirement, DK wrote on the retirement post, I would like to thank all my coaches, captains, selectors, teammates and members of the support staff who have made this long journey enjoyable and enjoyable. Out of the millions of people who play cricket in our country, I consider myself one of the few lucky ones who have got a chance to represent the country, and am even more fortunate to earn the goodwill of so many fans and friends.

My parents have been pillars of strength and support all these years, and I would not be who I am without their blessings. I am also very grateful to Deepika (wife), who is herself a professional player, who often put her career on hold to walk with me. Of course, a big thank you to all the fans and followers of our legendary game. Cricket and cricketers would not exist without your support and best wishes. DK won 2 ICC and 1 IPL trophies in his career

It is worth noting that Dinesh Karthik has won 2 ICC trophies with India. This includes the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2013 Champions Trophy. Talking about Karthik’s international career, he made his debut in international cricket in the year 2004, after which he got a chance to play 26 Tests, 94 ODIs and 60 T20 International matches. Karthik has 1025 runs in Test cricket, 1752 in ODIs and 686 runs in T20s. Karthik has scored one century during his international career which was seen in the Test format. Along with the ICC trophy, Karthik has also won the Asia Cup with India in the years 2010 and 2018.

Apart from 2 ICC trophies, DK is one of the few players to have played all the IPL seasons so far. He played 257 matches in this league and scored 4,842 runs at an average of 26.32. Apart from RCB, he also played for Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians, Delhi Daredevils, Gujarat Lions and Kings XI Punjab. He won his only IPL trophy in 2013 while playing for Mumbai Indians.
