Sports Desk. Indian players are proving their mettle in every sport today. Similarly, Indian boxer Mandeep Jangra won the America-based National Boxing Association (NBA) ‘Intercontinental Super Featherweight’ title by defeating Mandeep Jangra and Gerardo Esquivel. The championship was organized in Toppenish City, Washington. Jangra has been undefeated so far in his professional career. This 30-year-old boxer practices under the guidance of former Olympic silver medalist Roy Jones Jr.

Let us tell you that to compete against the American boxer on Friday, Jangra had to leave his previous weight category of 75 kg and go down to the lower weight category. He said that this victory is not just mine, but belongs to every person who supported me in this entire journey. This includes my coaches, family, fans and those who stand with me. I dedicate this title to my country. I will try to achieve similar honors and titles for the country in future also.

It is noteworthy that Jangra made his debut in professional boxing in 2021. Before defeating Esquivel, Jangra had registered knockout victories in four of his six bouts. Jangra has also performed well in the amateur circuit. He won the silver medal in the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games. Florida-based ‘National Boxing Association (NBA)’ is the recognized organization for professional competitions. Jangra is a former Indian amateur boxer. He won a silver medal in the welterweight category at the 2013 Asian Amateur Boxing Championship. He was honored with the prestigious Arjuna Award in 2015.
