Sports Desk. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has invited applications for one post in the Senior Men’s National Selector Selection Committee. However, it is not clear from the notice posted on the BCCI website who he will replace in the current five-member committee led by Ajit Agarkar. But there is speculation that a new appointment can be made in place of Salil Ankola. This is in line with the board’s desire to avoid having two selectors from the West Zone.

Let us tell you that, according to the notice issued by BCCI, candidates can apply till January 25. The ideal candidate should have played at least seven Test matches or 30 first-class matches or 10 ODIs and 20 first-class matches. The candidate must have retired from cricket at least five years ago. However, no age limit has been mentioned in the notice. In January last year, the board had appointed a five-member committee with Chetan Sharma as its chairman, but due to a sting operation he had to resign from his post. After this, former fast bowler Agarkar took over the post of chairman of the selection committee at the end of last year.

In the current committee, Agarkar and Ankola represent the West Zone and in such a situation, Ankola may be removed from this zone. Former right-arm fast bowler Ankola played the only Test of his career against Pakistan (IND vs PAK Test 1989) in 1989, in which he got two successes. He has represented India in 20 ODIs and played 54 first-class matches. Apart from Agarkar and Ankola, the current selection committee includes Subroto Banerjee (Central Zone), Shiv Sundar Das (East Zone) and Sridharan Sharath (South Zone).
