Sports Desk. Cricketer Shaun Marsh, who has served Australian cricket team continuously for 23 years, has finally announced his retirement from all formats of the game. This player made his debut at the age of 17 and took retirement at the age of 40. As soon as Marsh’s team Melbourne Renegades missed reaching the playoffs of the Big Bash League (BBL 2024), he announced his retirement. He played his last match on January 13, in which he defeated Melbourne Stars by scoring 64 runs. This match was also the last T20 match of Aaron Finch’s career.
Let us tell you that Marsh’s brother Mitchell Marsh and father Geoff Marsh have also played cricket for the Australian team. After retiring, he said that I enjoyed playing for Renegades. In the last five years, I have met many people and become friends with them. In such a situation, I will remember these moments for years. My team is very special and I have made friends with many people. Our members and fans are some of the people who supported me. In such a situation, I want to thank these people. I am sure that there are many good players in my team who will take this team to the top.
Marsh was the highest run-scorer while playing for Kings XI Punjab in the inaugural season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He is the first batsman in IPL to win the Orange Cap. He has played 38 Tests, 73 ODIs and 15 T20 International matches for Australia, in which he has scored 2265, 2773, 255 runs respectively. He has 13 centuries and 25 half-centuries in his name. He comes sixth in the list of batsmen who have scored the most runs in BBL. Marsh has scored 12,032 runs in 183 matches in first-class cricket, which includes 32 centuries and 58 half-centuries. Marsh played a total of 79 matches in BBL from 2011 to 2024, in which he scored 2,810 runs.
