Threads is being called the ‘killer app’ of Twitter. This new app launched by Meta got 5 crore users in the first 24 hours. The company has launched it as a microblogging platform which is largely linked to Meta’s Instagram app. Meta is said to have over 2 billion users on Instagram, which is now being used to increase Threads’ user base. There has also been a response from Twitter in which the recently appointed CEO of the company has said a big thing about the competition between Twitter and Threads. Threads has shockingly increased user registration. The Verge editor Alex Heath said in a thread post that 48 million users of the app have been registered. While posting another thread user Joe Scannell said that now the number has crossed 5 crores. To ensure maximum number of users sign up for Threads, the company is showing a serial number on each Instagram profile to indicate when the user signed up for Threads. Meta’s Threads app has been launched simultaneously on the App Store and Google Play store. But it is not yet available in all countries. Its services have not started yet in Europe. It is visible at the top of App Store in many countries. Even in India, it is visible at the top of the top free apps on iOS. It has climbed to number five on the App Store in China. Whereas other apps of Meta are blocked there. It is also being said for threads that China will block it. Talking about the posts on the app, 9.5 crore posts were made on it on Thursday which got a total of 19 crore likes. At the same time, Twitter now seems to be afraid of threads. On behalf of Twitter, lawyer Alex Spirit has allegedly threatened Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg with legal action. Meanwhile, Twitter’s new CEO Linda Yaccarino tweeted that the Twitter community has been created by the users and no one can replace it. The Twitter community cannot be duplicated. In the coming time, there may be a rapid increase in the user base of Threads, but compared to other platforms, it is said to be lacking in many features.
