Bal Thackeray had objection to India-Pakistan cricket matches

It is noteworthy that Shiv Sena led by Bal Thackeray has expressed objection to India-Pakistan cricket matches on several occasions. His view was that cricket matches could not be held until Pakistan stopped promoting cross-border terrorism. BJP formed the government in Maharashtra after toppling the Uddhav Thackeray government with the help of former Thackeray loyalist Eknath Shinde, who had led the rebellion of Shiv Sena MLAs. Shinde had claimed that Shiv Sena under the leadership of Uddhav Thackeray has deviated from the political path laid by Bal Saheb Thackeray.
