Good news for thousands of Indians waiting for Green Card in America, EAD will be issued for 5 years

According to the study, the employment-based Green Card backlog reached a new record of 1.8 million cases this year.

Washington:

The US has announced that it will provide employment authorization cards for five years to certain non-immigrant categories, including those waiting for a green card. This is a move that will benefit thousands of Indians living in the US. US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) said that it is extending the maximum validity period of Initial and Renewal Employment Authorization Documents or EAD for certain non-citizens to 5 years.

The aim is to significantly reduce the number of applications for employment authorization.

It said the purpose of increasing the maximum EAD validity period to 5 years is to significantly reduce the number of applications for the new Form I-765, Employment Authorization, which contributes to efforts to reduce the associated processing time and backlog. However, it also states that whether or not a non-citizen maintains employment authorization depends on their underlying condition, circumstances, and EAD filing category.

For example, if an individual has received an EAD under the category Based on Pending Adjustment of Status Application for a maximum validity period of 5 years, and then the employment authorization has been suspended, their supporting employment authority will be required to issue their EAD. Can be terminated before the expiry date listed at.
