It is said that BJP leader Birju Taram was shot dead amid the excitement of assembly elections in Naxal-affected Mohla-Manpur district. This incident happened in Sarkheda village of Aundhi police station area. As soon as information about the incident was received, the local police reached the spot. It has not been known who murdered Birjhu. There is an atmosphere of panic in the area after the incident. The opposition BJP has held the state’s Bhupesh Baghel government responsible for this.

Shot after breaking into the house

Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki District Superintendent of Police Ratna Singh said that BJP leader Birju Taram was shot dead by unknown assailants on Friday evening in Sarkheda village under Aundhi police station area of ​​the district. The incident took place around 7.30 pm when Birju Taram was outside the house. When asked about the possible role of Naxalites in the massacre, he said that it is too early to reach any conclusion.

Superintendent of Police Ratna Singh said that the police are investigating all possible aspects. Eyewitnesses said that 60-year-old Taram had gone out for a walk. Meanwhile, two-three people armed with weapons arrived and fired indiscriminately at Taram, killing him on the spot. There is anger in the opposition BJP camp due to this incident. BJP has termed the murder of Birju Taram as target killing.

Martyrdom will not go in vain – BJP

BJP state president Arun Sao said that the murder of Birju Taram is target killing. Continuous efforts are being made to intimidate BJP workers. We will not let the martyrdom of our workers go unnoticed. Manpur-Mohala area is a highly Naxal affected area. It is being told that Naxalites had earlier warned of murder. It is not known whether Birju Taram was murdered by Naxalites or someone else was behind it. This massacre has increased the political heat of the state during the election season.

A demand was made from the police to provide security

After the murder of the BJP leader, there is an atmosphere of panic in the area including Aundhi village. BJP leaders say that they had earlier demanded the Manpur-Mohla police to provide security to people active in politics in the interior areas, but the police did not pay attention to it. There is information that input was received from the arrested Naxalite Baldev to target politicians, but the police remained indifferent. Assembly elections are to be held in the first phase in Mohla-Manpur district. Before that, the news of the murder has created a stir.

Chhattisgarh BJP posted on X and said – Another BJP worker has been martyred. The murder of Mohla-Manpur BJP worker Birju Taram is also target killing. We will not let the martyrdom of BJP workers go in vain. We will uproot the government which is giving protection to goondaraj. We will maintain peace and rule of law. The registered Naxalite organization has issued death orders to many BJP leaders in Manpur in their public courts. Naxalites have killed many public representatives.

Former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh and senior BJP leader Raman Singh has held the administration and the Congress government responsible for this massacre. While posting the video on X, he said that the law and order situation in the state is getting worse. At present, the situation in Chhattisgarh has become like that of West Bengal. As soon as the elections begin, pressure is being put on BJP leaders and workers. Efforts are being made to scare BJP workers. Birjhu Taram’s crime was that he was a BJP worker and contributed in installing the idol of Durga.

Center had given ‘X’ category security to 24 leaders

Recently, the central government had provided ‘X’ category security to 24 local leaders. These leaders were from Naxal affected Bijapur, Dantewada, Sukma and Kondagaon. Already, more than 70 people have been given security in Bastar region, which includes officials and workers of BJP, Congress, CPI.

Murders have happened before too

According to the report of news agency PTI, earlier in June, Naxalites had killed a local BJP leader in Bijapur district. Not only this, in February this year, three BJP leaders were killed in similar attacks at different places in Bastar division. In February, Sagar Sahu (47), a former BJP official, was shot dead in Narayanpur district. Two days later, former sarpanch Ramdhar Alami was murdered.

When will the series of murders stop?

Then Neelkanth Kakkam, BJP Mandal President of Awapalli area of ​​Bijapur district, was shot dead. On February 21, a former BJP sarpanch was murdered by Naxalites in Bijapur district. Even then, BJP had termed these murders as target killing and had raised the demand for a high-level investigation. Raman Singh said- I express my condolences to the bereaved family and promise that every drop of blood will be taken to account from this tyrannical government.
