Virendra Gahwai, Bilaspur. The High Court, while hearing the matter of continuous cancellation of passenger trains, has asked the Railway Board to take instructions from the Central Government and present information in this regard. The court has also asked the Railways that if goods trains are running continuously on the same route, then why passenger trains cannot run. If the tracks are damaged, passenger trains are not running, so why is maintenance not being done? The next hearing of the case will be on Thursday 21 March.

Kamal Kumar Dubey of Bilaspur has filed a PIL in the High Court, in which it has been said that passenger trains are being continuously canceled in the area under South East Central Railway. On many occasions, passengers suddenly come to know that this express or passenger train will no longer run. Besides this, many times the train is suspended midway. Because of this, thousands of commuters have to face a lot of trouble. Railways has been behaving like this for a long time.

It has been said in the petition that on the other hand goods trains are being run continuously on the same route. The case was heard in the division bench of Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha and Justice Ravindra Kumar Aggarwal. During this, the court asked the Railways what was the reason why passenger trains were suddenly being canceled in large numbers. On behalf of the Railways, the Central Government’s lawyer said that work is going on on the railway track, that is why the trains have to be stopped. The High Court asked how a goods train is run on the same track. No proper answer could be given to this. The court has fixed the hearing on this matter again next Thursday with instructions from the Railway Board.
