    Hakimuddin Nasir, Mahasamund. To save fuel and reduce pollution, the government gives discounts on EV (electric) vehicles and smart hybrid, hybrid vehicles. Due to the reduction in the price, these vehicles are coming within the budget of many people, but due to non-payment of this amount even after months of purchasing the vehicle, people are forced to make rounds of the transport department.     The government gives 10 percent discount on registration of EV vehicles and 5 percent discount on registration of smart hybrid and hybrid vehicles. In Mahasamund district, from October 2022 till date, 183 EV vehicles and 54 smart hybrid and hybrid vehicles have been registered with the District Transport Office, but 75 percent of these buyers have not received the benefit of subsidy till date.

    Shreyansh Jain had bought an EV scooter a year ago. Under the government scheme, they were to get a subsidy of Rs 13,302 at the rate of 10 percent, which has not been received till date. Similarly, Tanmay Lunia had bought a smart hybrid car seven months ago, he was supposed to get a subsidy of Rs 49 thousand at the rate of 5 percent, which has not been received till date. As per the rules, they were to get the subsidy in three to four months.

    While the aggrieved parties are accusing the Transport Department of negligence, the top officer of the District Transport Department says that all the claims are made from here and sent to the headquarters, from there the subsidy comes into the accounts of the beneficiaries. However, now it has to be seen how the administration promotes EV vehicles without subsidy.
