Putin proposed that Ukraine surrender the Donetsk region to halt the conflict, according to sources familiar with the matter. Zelenskyy rejected this demand. Trump has publicly advocated for a peace agreement to swiftly end the war. Zelenskyy is set to travel to Washington to address the conflict’s resolution. The war, which began in 2022, has resulted in Moscow controlling approximately 19-20% of Ukrainian land, including a large portion of Donetsk city.
