Zelensky has stated that the issue of Ukraine’s territory is addressed in the constitution, and no one will retreat from it. This implies that not even an inch of Ukrainian land, including Crimea, will be ceded to Russia. Zelensky, using constitutional obligations as a shield, will not allow the war to end and might stick to his conditions in the future. These conditions include the withdrawal of Russia from eastern Ukraine, the return of the Russian army from Crimea, NATO membership, and participation in the European Union. Surprisingly, Europe has also given the green light to Zelensky’s decision, as evidenced by the NATO meeting in Britain before the Trump-Putin meeting, which Ukraine also attended. This meeting saw a proposal on Putin’s ceasefire plan that rejected Russia’s control over eastern Ukraine and refused to accept any of Putin’s conditions for a ceasefire. It also opposed keeping Zelensky away from the Trump-Putin meeting.
