During a two-day visit to India, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi engaged in discussions with Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. Jaishankar welcomed the talks, stating it presented an opportunity to review and address bilateral relations, the global situation, and matters of mutual interest. Discussions between the leaders encompassed economic and trade issues, pilgrimages, the sharing of river data, border trade, connectivity, and regional matters.
Wang is also scheduled to hold special talks with India’s National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval on border issues. Wang and Doval are the designated Special Representatives for border negotiations, with the meeting set for Tuesday morning. Doval had previously visited China in December 2024 for special representative talks with Wang. Following this, Wang will meet with Prime Minister Modi at his residence at 5:30 PM.
