In a significant operation, the FBI arrested Cindy Rodriguez Singh in India. Singh was on the FBI’s “Top 10 Most Wanted Fugitives” list and is accused of killing her six-year-old son, Rodriguez Alvarez. Authorities in Texas had issued a warrant for capital murder charges against her, which applies to the murder of a child under the age of ten. Additionally, she faced charges of fleeing the law. The arrest was the result of a collaboration between US and Indian law enforcement agencies, following an Interpol red notice issued on October 3, 2024. FBI Director Kash Patel emphasized that this arrest showcases the reach of justice and the inability of criminals to evade it.
The Everman Police Department in Texas initiated the investigation on March 20, 2023, after conducting a welfare check at the child’s residence. It was revealed that the child had not been seen since October 2022. The child suffered from several health issues like lung disease, weak bones, and other health problems. Singh told police her son was with his father in Mexico, but this was proven to be untrue. Subsequently, on March 22, 2023, she departed for India with her husband and six other children. Singh was placed on the FBI’s Most Wanted list in July 2023. Her apprehension in India marks the culmination of this investigation.
