An executive order signed by President Donald Trump has officially implemented the US-Japan trade agreement. The agreement imposes a 15% tariff on the majority of Japanese imports into the United States. The agreement, announced in July, aims to create a trade relationship grounded in mutual benefit. The deal encompasses sector-specific measures for automobiles, aerospace, pharmaceuticals, and natural resources. Japan has committed to investing $550 billion in the US and will also increase purchases of US agricultural products, including corn, soybeans, and fertilizers, to the value of $8 billion per year. The US government will select the investment projects, which are projected to create numerous jobs and expand domestic manufacturing.
