A recent UN report paints a concerning picture of the global water situation, stating that over 2.1 billion people lack access to clean drinking water. The report indicates that one in four individuals worldwide is forced to drink unsafe water. The study also notes that a substantial number of people, exceeding 100 million, rely on natural water sources like rivers and ponds for their daily water needs. The World Health Organization and UNICEF have pointed out that inadequate water, sanitation, and health services are causing widespread illness. Addressing this global issue is critical, yet significant improvements aren’t anticipated before 2030. A key official at the World Health Organization underscored that access to water and sanitation should be considered a basic human right.
