The impact in Taiwan has been severe, with a reported death toll of at least 14 in Hualien city. A further 124 people are unaccounted for after a barrier lake overflowed, leading to significant flooding. A contingent of 240 troops has been dispatched to Hualien to aid in rescue efforts.
