Following a period of strained relations, the US-India dynamic appears to be shifting. The former Indian diplomat K.P. Fabian suggests that the shift is due to the failed strategy of imposing tariffs. The initial expectation that India would surrender when threatened with tariffs did not materialize. Trump’s aggressive trade strategy, particularly the levies on Indian goods, hasn’t had the desired impact. He seems to have recognized the limitations of his approach.
Fabian noted that Trump is starting to understand that his initial expectation of India succumbing to the pressure of tariffs was incorrect, especially concerning the 25% tariffs, making it a total of 50%.
