The Alaska summit between former U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin has been widely perceived as a strategic win for Putin. The world views Putin as the primary victor, largely due to Trump’s apparent concessions to Putin’s requests. Putin’s display of dominance during the 5-hour Alaska visit was significant. Putin skillfully maneuvered Trump, leading the former president to support Putin’s agenda openly. The primary question that now arises is, what are the repercussions of Trump’s apparent alignment with Putin?
During the meeting, Putin stated that he and Trump had maintained direct contact, including numerous conversations. Trump affirmed that his relationship with President Putin had always been strong, and that their meeting was a success, with agreement on several topics.
In Alaska, the U.S. President, Donald Trump, found himself ensnared by Russian President Vladimir Putin’s diplomatic tactics. Putin’s plan was successful in bringing Trump to his side, and a subsequent meeting in Moscow has been scheduled.
Putin’s diplomatic moves not only persuaded Trump but also allowed time to occupy Ukrainian territory. At Trump’s invitation, Putin traveled to Alaska, where the historic meeting and peace negotiations started. Consequently, Trump is anticipated to refrain from implementing new sanctions against Russia or taking strong action. Putin and his military have gained time, enabling them to intensify their operations in Ukraine. This indicates that a war, which could endanger Ukraine’s existence, may precede any peace treaty.
Following the talks, Trump announced he would not take immediate measures against Russia or countries trading with Russia for the next two to three weeks. This inaction is considered a win for Putin. Notably, Putin persuaded Trump to agree to his conditions. Putin seeks a lasting peace treaty instead of a ceasefire, to which Trump has agreed.
What Happened at the Putin-Trump Meeting?
* Putin desires a permanent solution, not a ceasefire.
* Putin urged Trump to find a permanent solution.
* Putin wants a permanent peace treaty with Ukraine.
* Trump agreed with Putin and supports the treaty.
* Putin and Trump agreed to draft a peace treaty.
* They are prepared to negotiate the draft of a permanent peace treaty.
It is clear that a ceasefire is contingent upon a permanent peace treaty, and without a ceasefire, Russian attacks will escalate, leading to continued occupation of Ukrainian territory. Putin stated in Trump’s presence that all of Russia’s concerns, meaning all conditions, must be considered. Therefore, a permanent peace treaty is contingent on Russia’s demands being met.
Failure to meet the conditions, and therefore a lack of a permanent peace treaty, will lead to expanded destruction. Putin has essentially gained a license to inflict unrestricted devastation and occupation of Ukraine.
Russia Escalates Attacks on Ukraine
Furthermore, with Trump’s support and the implied permission to devastate Ukraine, Russian forces have intensified their offensive operations. In Lyman, Russia annihilated a Ukrainian military unit in a major assault. In Kupyansk, seven Ukrainian weapons systems were destroyed by Russian attacks. The Russian army has captured seven additional areas in Donetsk and has also raised the victory flag in a city in Dnipro. In Kharkiv, Russia destroyed a Ukrainian command post. Over 24 hours, 1310 Ukrainian soldiers were killed.
Reports suggest that the Russian military is preparing for a significant offensive in Ukraine, potentially occurring overnight. Multiple fronts have been prepared for this offensive.
Ukrainian Army Retaliates: Zelenskyy’s Force Reacts to Attacks
In response to the outcome of the Alaska discussions and the intensified Russian military attacks, Zelenskyy and his forces are intensely angered. Following Putin’s victory in Alaska, and Zelenskyy’s perceived loss, the Ukrainian army has initiated explosions on Russian territory. The Ukrainian army deployed drones to detonate in eight Russian regions simultaneously. The explosions caused fires in numerous vehicles. The attacks are suspected to be the result of Ukrainian drone strikes.
The Ukrainian attacks triggered a fire at a Russian arms factory in Ryazan, causing 11 deaths and injuring 130 others. A Russian military base was destroyed in Belgorod by Ukrainian forces. A Russian weapons depot in Volgograd was destroyed, and buildings were destroyed in Rostov due to Ukrainian drone strikes. Ukraine set fire to a Russian radar station in Kursk. Multiple explosions occurred in Astrakhan, causing fires in various buildings. Ukraine targeted Grozny, destroying two military vehicles.
These Ukrainian attacks on Russia are a consequence of Zelenskyy’s rage. Ukraine understands it now faces the necessity of surrender. If Zelenskyy refuses to surrender and a permanent peace treaty isn’t signed, Russia will have the chance to occupy a substantial portion of Ukraine.
