This follows his previous declaration of reciprocal tariffs on 14 countries, with the deadline set for August 1, 2025. Trump communicated this information via Truth Social, specifying that the initial announcement will occur Wednesday morning. He also stated that additional countries would be named during the afternoon. Prior to this, letters detailing these tariffs were dispatched to various nations. These letters were first sent to Japan and South Korea, with other nations, including Malaysia, Kazakhstan, South Africa, Myanmar, and Laos, receiving similar notices. Later, more countries, such as Thailand, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Tunisia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Cambodia, also received the letters. Tariffs vary, with Japan and South Korea facing 25%, Thailand and Cambodia at 36%, Bangladesh and Serbia at 35%, Malaysia and Kazakhstan at 25%, Myanmar and Laos at 40%, Indonesia at 32%, South Africa and Bosnia and Herzegovina at 30%, and Tunisia at 25%. Trump has indicated flexibility regarding the deadline if alternative solutions are proposed.
