Donald Trump has announced legal action against The Wall Street Journal, NewsCorp, and Rupert Murdoch following the publication of an article concerning Jeffrey Epstein and alleged communication between them. The core issue centers around a report suggesting Trump sent a letter with sexual implications to Epstein. Trump has vehemently denied the authenticity of the letter, insisting it is a fabrication.
Trump claims he personally warned Rupert Murdoch and the Editor of The Wall Street Journal, Emma Tucker, about the fabricated letter. However, he says they proceeded with the story anyway. In a social media post, Trump criticized the press for relying on unreliable sources and called for more truthful reporting. He cited his past legal successes against other media organizations, like ABC and CBS, as precedent for his current action. He further accused the Wall Street Journal of publishing ‘defamatory lies’ and suggested their desperation to remain relevant was the driving force behind the report.
The contested report includes details of a note with Trump’s name and a drawing included in a collection of letters given to Epstein for his birthday. Trump denies any involvement, stating, ‘I never wrote a picture in my life. I don’t draw pictures of women.’ Epstein, who was involved in sex trafficking and later found dead in jail, remains a subject of ongoing scrutiny.
