An airstrike in Tehran, carried out by the Israel Air Force (IAF), resulted in the death of Ali Shadmani, Iran’s War-Time Chief of Staff and a close military advisor to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. The IDF confirmed the elimination of Shadmani, highlighting that it was the second such operation in a week. The IDF also reported conducting multiple strikes on Iranian military infrastructure in western Iran, targeting missile storage, launch sites, and drone facilities. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu affirmed Israel’s control over Tehran’s airspace and underscored that the strikes are aimed at regime targets rather than civilians. Iranian state media later verified the death of key IRGC officials, including the intelligence chief, Brigadier General Mohammad Kazemi, and his deputy, Hassan Mohaqiq, in a separate Israeli attack. Earlier, the IDF had announced the killing of other high-ranking Iranian military officials in earlier strikes.
