Kim Jong Un’s reliance on train travel continues a family tradition, demonstrating a preference for a slower but secure mode of transport. The green train, distinguished by its yellow stripes, has long been associated with the Kim dynasty. His father, Kim Jong Il, also favored train travel over flying, including a notable journey to Russia in 2002 during a period of eased sanctions. Known as the ‘Taeyangho’, this train is often referred to as a ‘moving fortress’ and travels at a speed of approximately 60 kilometers per hour, with a journey to Beijing taking around 20 hours.
