During an inspirational talk at the North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC), Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, the first Indian on the ISS through the Axion Mission 4, motivated students. He confidently stated that future astronauts would emerge from all types of Indian towns and cities. Via ham radio, he urged students to pursue their dreams. Shukla recounted his experiences during his training and time on the ISS, launched on June 25. He highlighted parallels between fighter pilot and astronaut training, particularly the importance of data training. He described the unique conditions on the ISS, including microgravity and heightened radiation, requiring rigorous health protocols using exercise equipment. Emphasizing safety, Shukla detailed the extensive training for potential emergencies. He also shared his incredible perspective of Earth from space. Shukla was Mission Pilot for Axiom Mission 4, launched from Kennedy Space Centre with SpaceX’s Falcon 9, successfully docking with the ISS.
