Donald Trump has named Sergio Gor as the new United States Ambassador to India. Gor will also take on the role of Special Envoy for South and Central Asia. The announcement was made on Trump’s social media platform, Truth Social. Presently, Gor is the Director of the Presidential Personnel Office at the White House. Once confirmed by the US Senate, he will assume the position of the permanent US Ambassador to India.
This appointment comes seven months after the previous ambassador, Eric Garcetti, left the post. Sergio Gor will be the 26th US Ambassador to India. In his statement, Trump highlighted Gor’s close relationship, friendship, and trust. He stated that in the world’s most populated region, it is essential to have an individual who can fully execute his agenda and lead towards the ‘Make America Great Again’ (MAGA) objective.
Gor has been a key political and personal confidant to Trump for many years. He played a vital role in Trump’s presidential campaign. Furthermore, Gor contributed to the publishing of Trump’s bestselling books and was at the head of a large Super PAC (Political Action Committee) that supported Trump.
As the Director of the Presidential Personnel Office, Gor was crucial in the staffing process for the Donald Trump administration. Trump commended Gor and his team for quickly appointing approximately 4,000 ‘America First Patriots’ to different federal government departments, filling over 95% of positions within government departments and agencies.
