Estimates suggest that Russia possesses a total of 5,459 nuclear warheads as of 2025. Of these, 1,718 are deployed on the front lines, 2,591 are in reserve, and 1,150 are retired. The report further details the specific weapon systems deployed. Submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs), including the Bulava and Sineva, are equipped with MIRV technology, carrying warheads ranging from 400 to 600 kilotons. Russia has deployed a total of 992 nuclear warheads at sea. On land, Russia has positioned a significant number of intercontinental ballistic missiles, including RS-20V, Avangard, RS-12M, RS-12M2, RS-24 Yars, and RS-28 Sarmat launchers, all MIRV-equipped, carrying a total of 1,254 nuclear warheads.
