In Oldbury, a town in the UK, a 20-year-old Sikh woman was the victim of a brutal rape and racist abuse. The attack, which happened near Tame Road, involved two men. During the assault, the victim was subjected to racial slurs and told to ‘return to her country.’ The incident occurred on Tuesday morning at 8:30 AM. Law enforcement is investigating the incident as a hate crime, with CCTV footage and forensic evidence being examined.
The suspects are described as white males. One had a shaved head and a dark sweatshirt, while the other wore a grey top. The local Sikh community has expressed deep anger and concern over the event. Police authorities have pledged to increase patrols in the affected area.
Preet Kaur Gill, a Member of Parliament, strongly condemned the attack, labeling it as racially motivated. She asserted the victim’s right, and that of all community members, to feel secure, respected, and valued. She stated there is no space for racism, misogyny, or any form of hate in Oldbury or anywhere in Britain. Jas Athwal, another MP, described the incident as a detestable, racist, and misogynistic assault. The attack also comes after an attack on two elderly Sikh men in Wolverhampton.
