Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in a phone discussion with French President Emmanuel Macron. PM Modi, in a post on X, stated, “Had a very good conversation with my friend President Macron. Exchanged views on efforts for peaceful resolution of conflicts in Ukraine and in West Asia. Reaffirmed our commitment to further strengthen the India-France strategic partnership.”
The discussion between the leaders took place amidst ongoing efforts to find peaceful resolutions in Ukraine and Gaza. India has consistently advocated for diplomatic solutions to conflicts. India has previously indicated its willingness to contribute to the resolution of these conflicts.
Additionally, the leaders assessed advancements in the bilateral cooperation agenda, covering areas like trade, defense, civil nuclear collaboration, technology, and energy. Both leaders confirmed their shared dedication to bolstering the India-France strategic partnership, and to recognizing 2026 as the ‘Innovation Year’.
President Macron also voiced his backing for a swift conclusion to the Free Trade Agreement between India and the European Union. The leaders concurred on maintaining communication regarding all matters.
