Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has revealed that Pakistan will be hosting the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in 2027. The Prime Minister made the announcement while speaking at a road development project in Rawalpindi. However, the exact dates for the summit were not given.
Sharif stated that preparations must start now, highlighting the necessity of improving Islamabad’s aesthetics. The announcement comes two weeks after the SCO summit in Tianjin, China, where Pakistan brought up the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) issue. India suspended the IWT in April following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam that led to the deaths of 26 individuals.
