Former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has publicly condemned the current government in Nepal, referring to it as the ‘Gen-Z government’ and claiming its establishment was illegal. Oli asserted that the government was not formed in accordance with constitutional provisions or through the will of the people. Instead, he attributed its creation to acts of vandalism and arson. His statements were made during a public address on Saturday, marking his return to the political stage after his resignation on September 9, which followed nationwide Gen Z protests on September 8. Oli indicated that he resigned to prevent further escalation of unrest after the events of the previous day. His reappearance included attending a gathering organized by the CPN-UML student wing, Rastriya Yuwa Sangh, in Bhaktapur. The event is perceived as an effort to rebuild connections with younger party members, who were critical of his leadership during the recent political turmoil. The protests, spearheaded by Gen Z, demanded political reform, an end to corruption, and the lifting of a disputed social media ban, culminating in significant unrest.
