In a meeting held in Alaska, US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin engaged in crucial discussions regarding the conflict in Ukraine. The talks were described as “very productive” and “mutually respectful.” Despite these positive descriptions, President Trump clarified that no agreement had been reached. President Putin, however, viewed the talks as “thorough and useful” and expressed Russia’s desire to end the conflict while acknowledging existing “legitimate concerns.” The meeting followed three hours of talks centered on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which began in February 2022. Trump reported that while significant progress was achieved, a final agreement remained outstanding. Putin hoped that the discussions would lead to peace in Ukraine, urging support from Kyiv and European capitals.
