Following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s comments supporting the ‘Greater Israel’ concept, the Arab League has issued a stern rebuke. Netanyahu, in a recent Israeli television appearance, acknowledged his connection to the idea. Arab nations responded with condemnation, asserting that Netanyahu’s statements undermine their national sovereignty. Jordan, an important partner of Israel, also criticized Netanyahu and called for an end to expansionist plans. In a Tuesday statement, the League labeled the remarks as a severe threat to collective Arab national security and a violation of international law and legitimacy. The League further described the statements as reflecting aggressive and expansionist goals that are unacceptable, highlighting what they perceive as an extremist and colonialist perspective. Egypt has also weighed in, condemning statements made in certain Israeli media outlets concerning ‘Greater Israel,’ while reaffirming its dedication to achieving peace in the Middle East. The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement requesting official explanations for the statements, acknowledging the potential for regional instability.
