Violent anti-corruption protests in Nepal led to an attack on former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and his wife on Tuesday. Protesters, identified as part of the ‘Gen Z’ movement, stormed Deuba’s home in Budanilkantha, Kathmandu, as captured in videos shared online. The footage shows Deuba with a bleeding face and his wife showing signs of assault. Their residence was heavily vandalized before authorities could provide assistance. The protests also saw widespread arson and destruction across the country. Party offices, homes of political leaders, and state buildings were targeted. The outgoing Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s private residence in Balkot, Bhaktapur, was set ablaze, and President Ram Chandra Paudel’s private residence in Kathmandu was also vandalized and partially burned. Amidst the turmoil, both the Nepalese Prime Minister and President resigned. Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel was seen fleeing from protesters in the streets of Kathmandu.
