A defense agreement was signed between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia on September 17, 2025. This pact signifies a commitment to mutual defense, where an attack against either nation will trigger a collective response from both. The agreement, designated as a Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement, was finalized during Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Riyadh, at Al-Yamama Palace. Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman hosted the signing.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, the agreement explicitly states that an attack on either nation constitutes an attack on both. The joint statement released post-signing acknowledged the longstanding partnership, brotherhood, Islamic unity, and shared strategic objectives that underpin the agreement.
