Tuesday witnessed a series of devastating attacks across Pakistan, with three separate suicide bombings claiming the lives of 22 people and injuring 40 others. The first attack unfolded in Balochistan during a political rally, where a suicide bomber caused the death of at least 11 people. Authorities also reported an explosion in a Quetta stadium parking area, injuring 40 individuals, many of whom were affiliated with the Balochistan National Party (BNP). A separate incident in Balochistan, near the Iranian border, resulted in five fatalities and four injuries when a bomb detonated near a passing convoy. No group has claimed responsibility for this particular attack. Further north, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, a suicide attack targeting a military base claimed the lives of six soldiers. An official reported that the attack began with a suicide bomber ramming an explosives-laden vehicle into the FC camp gate, followed by five attackers entering the base. A 12-hour gun battle ensued, leading to the deaths of the six attackers. Ittehad-ul-Mujahideen Pakistan claimed responsibility for the assault. Since the beginning of the year, the ongoing violence in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has resulted in over 430 deaths, primarily of security forces personnel. The Pakistani military has been battling extremism in the region for over a decade, and the violence has escalated significantly in 2024, with 782 deaths reported.
