Rescue efforts are underway on Sunday to assist around one thousand individuals caught in a blizzard on the Tibetan side of Mount Everest. The region, located at an elevation of more than 4,900 meters, is dealing with blocked routes due to heavy snowfall. Several local villagers and rescue personnel have been sent to clear the paths.
Some tourists have reportedly been rescued already. The snowfall began on Friday evening and became more severe in the eastern part of Mount Everest in Tibet. This part of the mountain is a popular destination for climbers. Mount Everest, the highest peak globally at over 8,849 meters, is called Mount Qomolangma in China.
