Punjab’s Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz, has declared her government’s dedication to promoting religious tolerance and mutual respect across all sectors. She expressed solidarity with those suffering due to religious discrimination during the International Day commemorating victims of violence based on religion or belief.
Nawaz highlighted that her administration stands with those who face injustices rooted in religious bias. She also pointed out Islamophobia as a prevalent and harsh reality worldwide, condemning incidents such as attacks on mosques, restrictions on hijab-wearing women, and the wrongful association of Muslims with terrorism.
Speaking about Palestine, Nawaz stated that the land is marked by the bloodshed of martyrs, and the cries of children are often overshadowed by violence. She also discussed the enduring pain in Kashmir, emphasizing that both Kashmir and Gaza raise critical questions for the global community.
Nawaz confirmed that her government will always support the victims of religious persecution. She emphasized that Islam advocates for peace, love, and tolerance, reinforcing the government’s commitment to promoting religious harmony and mutual respect.
Maryam Nawaz, daughter of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, assumed office as the 20th Chief Minister of Punjab on February 26, 2024, marking her as the first female CM in Pakistan.
