He was originally from Jalandhar and moved to the UK in the 1960s to seek medical care for his younger daughter Ambika. After Ambika’s death at age four, he created the Ambika Paul Foundation, which has donated extensively to support education and health programs for children and youth. Lord Paul remained dedicated to his charitable work even after losing his son Angad Paul in 2015 and his wife Aruna in 2022.
