A devastating accident in Kenya’s southwest has led to the loss of 21 lives after a bus overturned. The bus was transporting people home after a funeral service when it veered off the road and into a ravine near Kisumu. The regional traffic enforcement officer for Nyanza Province, where Kisumu is located, reported that the driver lost control of the bus while navigating a roundabout at excessive speed. The casualties include 10 women, 10 men, and a young girl aged 10. Road safety remains a significant concern in Kenya and other East African countries due to the prevalence of hazardous road conditions and reckless driving. A recent incident in Naivasha also resulted in the deaths of nine individuals following a bus crash involving 32 workers.
