A video documenting the forceful restraint of an Indian student at Newark Liberty International Airport has ignited a firestorm of criticism. The clip shows the student being held down by several US officials, handcuffed, and ultimately deported. The incident was brought to public attention by Kunal Jain, an Indian-American entrepreneur, who shared the video on X and tagged the Indian Embassy, expressing his dismay and calling the event a ‘human tragedy.’ The Indian Embassy in New York has acknowledged the reports and stated they are engaging with local authorities to address the situation. Jain, who witnessed the event, told NDTV that the student was speaking in Haryanvi and yelling, ‘I am not crazy.’ He also noted that he was prevented from assisting in translation efforts. The witness described the scene as the student crying and repeating, ‘I am not crazy, they are making me crazy.’
