The Iran-backed Houthi rebels confirmed the news on Saturday, stating that the attack occurred on Thursday. A statement from the rebels said that several ministers of the government were also killed in the airstrike.
The Israeli army reported on Thursday that it had executed an accurate strike on a military site of the Houthi terrorist regime located in the Sana’a region. The statement also added that al-Rahawi had been serving as Prime Minister of the Houthi-led government since August 2024.
The attack happened when Rahawi and other government officials were participating in a workshop to assess the government’s activities over the past year.
