Philippe Lazzarini, the head of UNRWA, has issued a stark warning that Gaza is becoming a graveyard for both children and those facing starvation. He accused Tel Aviv of executing a ‘cruel and Machiavellian scheme to kill’ in the region. Recent data from Gaza’s government indicates that approximately 773 Palestinians have died and 5,101 have sustained injuries since May 27, while seeking food aid. Lazzarini’s condemnation came after an attack by the Israeli military that resulted in the deaths of 15 people, including numerous children, who were waiting for essential supplies. Medical sources confirmed 45 fatalities on the same day, with 11 of the deaths occurring near a GHF-run aid center in Rafah. The UN human rights office reported 798 deaths near aid distribution points between May and July 7. Reports from news outlets indicate Israeli soldiers and US contractors working with GHF have admitted to shooting unarmed Palestinians attempting to access food. The World Food Programme’s deputy executive director, Carl Skau, highlighted that the situation in Gaza is the direst he has ever seen, despite the availability of sufficient food to feed the entire population for two months, as the aid trucks are continuously denied access.
