A devastating combination of heavy rainfall and subsequent flooding has struck Pakistan and the Pakistan-administered Kashmir (PoK) region, leading to widespread destruction and casualties. The disaster has resulted in a tragic loss of life, with at least 154 confirmed fatalities. The situation is further compounded by the fact that many people remain unaccounted for.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province has been the most severely affected area, where cloudbursts and the resulting rapid flow of floodwaters have led to substantial loss of life and damage to essential infrastructure in numerous districts.
The Buner district recorded 75 deaths, while Mansehra reported 17 fatalities. Additionally, the Bajaur and Batagram districts each suffered 18 deaths. Lower Dir reported five deaths and four injuries. Swat and Shangla also recorded fatalities.
